Oh Lord, our hearts are heavy with the weight of our sin and the brokenness of this world. As we journey through this season of Lent, we come before you with contrite hearts and humble spirits.
We mourn for the times when we have turned away from your love and grace, when we have been selfish and thoughtless, when we have hurt those around us and caused pain and suffering.
We lament for the injustices and suffering in this world, for the ways in which we have contributed to it, for the times when we have turned a blind eye to the pain of our brothers and sisters.
Merciful Lord, hear our cries of lament. Help us to turn away from our sins and turn toward you, to seek your forgiveness and your healing love.
May this season of Lent be a time of renewal and transformation in our hearts and in the world around us. May we find comfort in the knowledge that you are with us always, and that your love and grace are greater than all of our sins and sorrows.
We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
