Day 16 – Take 15 minutes for You.

How are your mornings going? The last few days we’ve added some great things to our mornings, right? I have loved the candle, music, and meditation. Today, let’s add a few minutes of quiet time.

That’s right. I said it. Quiet time. I will be the first to say that I don’t love the words quiet time, because it implies that you have to be quiet. Also, it has generally been something that I’ve felt was forced upon me to be a good Christian. You know the drill, every good believer starts their morning with quiet time. Only. . .what if you’re not a morning person? Or what if you want to do things differently. Well, it’s a good thing that I’m not the boss of you, right? Because that way you can do this however you want.

I am, in fact, a morning person. So, the fact that bringing peace and calm into my home starts in the morning, well, that’s very fine by me. Even those who aren’t morning people will attest that it is important to set a tone to your mornings. Cranky family members are the worst. Stressed out folks don’t bring calm. Morning routines of peace set a tone for peace.

So, however you look at it, here is the challenge. Take 15 minutes to do something for you. Read, meditate, do a devotional, write in a gratitude journal; you get the idea.

If you need an idea, this morning I concentrated on love, more importantly loving one another. I meditated on the following passages: 1 John 3:11-24, 1 John 4:7-21, 1 Peter 1:13-25, and Proverbs 3:3-4. What do they say about loving one another? How can I love better?

That’s it. Set the tone for peace this morning by giving yourself just 15 minutes to make a great start. Maybe even do it right by that candle.
