Yesterday’s chance to observe things more clearly really stuck a chord with me. I loved slowing down enough to do things like feel dirt and smell freshly brewing coffee. And I loved having my list at hand so that I could pray little prayers of Thanksgiving throughout the day. It’s so important to express that gratitude. We express it to God because we are so thankful for all he gives us, but having a thankful heart is also just plain good for us, as well.
So, let’s continue in being thankful for the little (and big) things. Some of you have done this before, and some of you haven’t. We’ve done it in fancy journals and on little pieces of scratch paper. Honestly, I don’t care how you do it. It doesn’t really matter. But here’s your challenge for today:
Today’s challenge is to write a top 10 list of the things that you are most grateful for. These could be anything from people to places to your job or your home. Anything that you are thankful for gets a spot on your list. 10 is great, but if your list just keeps growing, that’s ok too. It’s healthy and good and godly to have a list of things we can thank God for. And, if this causes you to start up a Gratitude Journal, awesome. Go for it.
p.s. My friend Renae has a great post on the myths of Gratitude today on her blog! You should definitely check it out!
